The 2017 Barbaresco Montefico is one of the standout wines in this range. It displays the penetrating tannins typical of this site, yet has more than enough fruit to balance those tannins, certainly more than wines like the Rabajà. This exposed site benefits from twenty refreshing from the north, clearly a plus in 2017. Even at the start, the balance here is terrific.
